Subject: 10624/Code/3-22/Maintenance of Signs Date: Mon, 22 Jan 1990 10:37:00 -0500 ORDINANCE NO. 10624 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE, PART II, CHAPTER 3, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION 3-22 RELATIVE TO MAINTENANCE OF OFF-PREMISE SIGNS. __________________________ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Chattanooga City Code, Part II, Chapter 3, be and the same is hereby amended by adding a new section 3-22 as follows: Sec. 3-22. Maintenance of Off-premise Signs and Sign Structures. All off-premise signs shall be properly maintained. Off-premise signs which are not properly maintained are declared to be a nuisance and are subject to removal in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter. Rusted surfaces and/or components of signs shall be promptly repaired. Exposed surfaces of signs shall be clean and painted if paint is required. Defective parts of signs shall be replaced. The Sign Inspector shall order the removal of any off-premise sign which is defective, damaged or substantially deteriorated pursuant to Article I of this Chapter. For the purposes of this section 3-22, "sign" shall include signs and their supporting structures. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage as provided by law.
